Anniversaries and Trips

So this Thursday (6/11/09) is the 10 year anniversary of hubby and mines first date. We were both living in Charleston, SC (me at CofC and he at Naval Weapons Station): he picked me up around 9 pm and we went to see Austin Powers, the Spy Who Shagged Me and dinner at T Bonz. I was so nervous that I walked 10 feet in front of him till we got to the car.

In planning for our trip to Charleston on Saturday, I found some pretty cool sites to help with travel planning:

Nextstop.com (User generated city guides)

Whereivebeen.com (A Facebook App – map where you have been & want to go)

Virtualtourist.com (Great user generated guides – what to see, how to get there, and what to skip)

Since 10 years (hell, 10 anything) is a milestone, I thought I would start of  Thursday morning on the right foot: home made breakfast goodies! Now, my hubby is obsessed with 4 of the major food groups: Pizza, Beer, Burgers, and Cinnamon Rolls. So why not be a dearie and make him some Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast. I found this recipe today at TasteSpotting and it was hard not to lick the screen myself. I will let you know how they go over – fingers crossed, I have never made home made rolls before!

So, what is your special food (or obsession) that you would like to have and on which special occasion?

Mondays Are Always Confusing

Well we made it – day is done and the pennies have been earned. It can only get better from here. We are this much closer to Friday!!!

Head scratching observation of the day:

Why is it that 1 Arab American who was jailed in a foreign country was all over the news for a few weeks, with her family and the Secretary of Sate on TV arguing for her release, but for more than 2 months we have 2 Korean American women being held by another foreign country garnering no news coverage by the major medias (until today)?

I Eat, You Eat, We Eat

I love food: I love to buy food, cook food, make food, and eat food. I am aware of where my food comes from: real, live animals and plants. Animals that I could certainly make into family pets. It is out of my respect for our animals, our health and our food supply that I buy my products.

Raise a Glass SC!

With much appreciate to my hubby for getting us into the Home Brewing scene – my beer palate has moved on from Rolling Rock (yes, those good ole college days) to actual real beers of our own concoction to Dogfish Head, Oskar Blues, and Clipper City to name a few of my favorites

Today is the first day that Fat Tire by New Belgium Brewing Co is available  (with much heavy handed lobbying between our fair Gove’ment and New Belgium Co). Fat Tire has become something that people speak of with wide eyes and joyful enthusiasm. I was unable to taste this at the first (hopefully annual) Columbia Beer Festival. So when word got to my hubby that IT was finally here, he promptly went down to Morganelli’s and picked up our first bottle – it sits patiently in the fridge, waiting for Saturday to be enjoyed

Much thanks to New Belgium Brewing Co for keeping up the good fight!

Interesting

Happen to be watching PBS’s American Experience tonight: Test Tube Babies. Did not know it a woman was the first to witness a successful human fertilization and it was a woman who pushed for the procedure to be done.

Never underestimate the power of a biological clock indeed!

Today

My last dreamy thought reminded me of my birthday trip to the beach. I woke up to find I was still in my bed at home, Hubby still sleeping, and Fox-monster stirring in his bed. No sand, seagulls or salt.

It is a wonderus machine, our fat filled brains – how evocative indeed.

We had a lovely day, but I cannot wait to dream again.
